Our aim is to design, manufacture and supply quality Australian-made storage and soft furnishings to the healthcare market. 

Planmed is a division of Planex Design a well-established Australian partnership between Planex and Black Fish Design. Planmed’s team represents extensive experience within the commercial furniture industry, product development and nursing.   We promote and use only sustainable timber products and recyclable steel.

Planmed’s design brief has been to produce products that improve on functionality, yet also consider design and aesthetics to assist workflow and the work environment.  The use of design, colour and materials has the ability to dramatically change the utilitarian look and feel of patient areas to a softer and welcoming environment.

Planmed has incorporated a new slant on design components such as modularity, security and flexibility to meet the changing work practices and space requirements.

Planmed’s steel cabinets are manufactured in one of the most advanced sheet-metal manufacturing facilities in Australia operating for the past 40 years.  The entire manufacturing process, which converts the raw sheet steel into your powdered-coated finished product, is carried out at this one Melbourne-based plant, ensuring exceptional in-house quality controls.  Steel a hard-wearing and 100% recyclable product guarantees a robust and environmental product._0499small

Planmed’s joinery manufacturer ticks all the environmental boxes and holds both the Australian Forestry Standard Chain of Custody and the Forest Stewardship Council certifications. Our joinery products are made from moisture-resistant melamine board, produced using timber from an Australian Sustainable Forest.  For a healthier and greener building we choose to exclusively use E0 board to eliminate hazardous volatile organic compounds (VOC).

Our products have been designed for:

  • clinical areas such as operating theaters and interventional suites allowing specialized consumables to be moved into the theatre when needed.   Avoid assigning specific rooms to specific functions and have the flexibility as your requirements grow.
  • areas where sensitive equipment requires storage, or transported between departments
  • patient accommodation; our bedside cabinets‘ unique dual compartment drawer is designed for secure medication storage whilst not reducing the usable area for patients.
  • mobile office and hot-desking; a place to work for personnel visiting the ward.
  • In the Emergency department or ICU a multi-purpose cabinet that can be used for the storage of equipment, drugs, and patient belongs and a clean work surface, all at the bedside.  Its mobility and modularity of internals allows flexibility. Drawers, pull-out shelf,  hanging area or open storage space the unit can be configured and re-configured to suit the needs now and as your requirements change.

Whether the environment is a high level clinical area or an aged care facility our product designs will focus on creating furniture that will delight the end user, accommodate the demands on space, and ensure superior quality and longevity of the product.
